Treasure hunts are best presented using treasure hunt riddles. These are sentences or phrases making use of rhyming or colorful words that the hunters will need to solve in order to get to the treasure or the next riddle. Any treasure hunt will be more fun and exciting when instead of simple clues there are treasure hunt riddles, since they are fun to read and very rewarding to figure out.
Riddles hide underneath them the clue to the next location or information needed to continue with the hunt. A good riddle challenges the player's mind to think deeply for the answer when all along what they are looking for is staring them in the eye.
Here is an example:
A hunter finds a collection of objects at a checkpoint, only one of these will be accepted by the checkpoint guy in exchange for the next clue. He only needs to pick one at a time and risks waiting fifteen minutes if he picked the wrong one. The clue says,
"I put it out long after, it's life only became longer"
The hunter needs to figure out that it's a candle he should pick up.
Similar clues could be made indicating specific locations to search in. Say, a specific site in a building like the basement. Only make sure the riddles are challenging enough without being frustrating. Use the right rhyme without compromising the meaning or this will mislead the hunters to a different answer.
Finally, write the clues on any medium that represents the theme of your treasure hunt. One common way of doing this is by using a piece of cloth that will look dated and rugged by coloring it brown or dirtying it. Still, the theme of the treasure hunt you will work on will determine how your riddles look like.
